Desperate

Desperate

A Poem by Mattox

           Desperate

Listen to these words,

so swift so, so soft, Like the

strum of my acoustic.

Singing like a bird I can’t

assume you hear me I’m just

screaming out loud,

adolescent and immature.

Good eye for a high, so red,

So delicately reminded by

flame. Like the fall I

continue to surprise you,

With every leaf falling

further from you, my roots

dig deep, but your plow is

far too strong, again and

again you dig. Somehow

finding this state of me,

weak, for your attention.

Come to aide my

dehydrated soul, seems this

toll is paid for, I will sin you

no more, this again is a lie to

which I have no idea why it’s

fabrication exist. I speak

these words so soft, so

swift, like the strum of my

acoustic, though not a

succubus, feeling persuasion

is best bet to win your

undying love, indulge me

with your winter grasp for

wits end is where I reside.
