All the Time

All the Time

A Poem by Michael (Letters and Lifelines)

There's a darkness,
In the stairway.
Start to listen,
At the doorway.
There's a soft voice,
Rising so close.
Like a sad girl.
Like a lost ghost.
In the dim light,
There's a shadow.
Standing with her,
Like a scarecrow.
Through the closed door,
See her crying.
Lonely whimpers,
Like a howling.

Can't lie-
I like you dark eyed.
And I've been-
Trying to sneak my way in.
It's a fright night.
And you're just like a knife fight.
But I've been-
Dreaming of your scream again.

This happens all the time,
Where you're with me in my mind.
This happens all the time,
Where I want to feel your lips on mine.
This happens all the time,
Where I want to hold you from behind.
This happens all the time,
Where I like to think that you are mine.

In the dark streets,
It's a cold night.
But a dim glow,
From the streetlights.
From the upstairs,
Through the dark screen,
There's a lone girl.
Watch her moving.
There's a feeling,
Like a lost thrill.
Like the craving,
Of a first kill.
Then a loud noise,
Like a last rite,
Like a siren,
Through a dead night.

Can't lie-
I like you dark eyed.
And I've been-
Trying to sneak my way in.
It's a fright night.
And you're just like a knife fight.
But I've been-
Dreaming of your scream again.

This happens all the time,
Where you're with me in my mind.
This happens all the time,
Where I want to feel your lips on mine.
This happens all the time,
Where I want to hold you from behind.
This happens all the time,
Where I like to think that you are mine.

just like a knife fight...love is many wounds...many scabs from the wounds...many chances to run, many times we wish we had...sometimes we would rather hold from behind, safer that way than facing love, when it screams heartbreak from the edge of its blade.
