![]() Why Stay?A Poem by Tamika FinleyYou've become something more to me, something more than green grass, clear glass, pretty smiles, dressed with style, you've become something much more great. To me, you mean more to me, than almost anything. You are now the center of my life, where my mind, body, soul, heart, resides. Something like a passion, where you put your whole life into it, no regrets coming with. Opening up my usually tight shut doors, inviting you in, your smell, the way you sit up tall and nice, and the way your lights brighten my nights. However, you've made it clear that I can't afford you. It means nothing that I adore you, nonetheless, J'adore tu. I can't change that fact, you've grown equivalent to the bone in my back. But, I can't afford you. You fail to set aside, the lacking of my green dollar signs, green as these words that lie, left my love on the side of the road to die, cry itself to sleep throughout the night, opening wet eyes to find sun, go and hide. Hide from the reality, that, to you, I'm nothing. Only Ben Franklin and his friends, seems to be invited in, their smell, their texture, the way they spend. I can't be a dead Abraham Lincoln, too bad, you've given up something much greater than.
