Part Three

The cloud drifted over the open sea.

She shouted in vain at the flat land below.

Silence was a constant enemy.

She longed for her former existence.

In the distance she saw a mountain.

She lamented, "If I could only get to that mountain."

"Perhaps it has the answers I seek."

Her wispy fingers stretched to the shoulders of the mountain.

Uncontrollably she burst into tears with relief and joy.

Although the mountain had seen many clouds. this one was different.

He thought, "Why would this cloud want to be near me?"

"I am so barren and lifeless. What could she possibly want from me?"

He felt her cool refreshing touch along his barren rocky flanks.

He embraced her, summoning all his comfort buried deep within.

She poured her existence until she lay exhausted at his feet.

A warm sun sent birds bearing seeds to the mountain's moist sides.

He giggled as the roots tickled his exposed ribs.

The birds jeered victoriously across his chest.

The lake knelt at the feet of the mighty mountain.

Life of all forms raced to splash in her existence.

She adorned, "You have fulfilled my deepest desires."

"Life flows within me once more."

"With you I have form and purpose."

"I will hold your image at my center forever."

"I am no longer alone."

He bowed, "You have given me life where none existed."

"Your gift is an answer to a dream. I am your rock, your form."

"I will never crumble beneath your feet. I will hold you forever."

"I am no longer alone."
