Human "Rights"

Human "Rights"

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

You want to talk about human rights?

What is wrong with being human?

What is right?

What about human is right?

Is it right what humans are about?

What is it about “being” human that is right?

Do we even know the right way to be a human?

Where is the instruction manual to tell us the “right” way?

What is right for one human is not right for another human.

Do we have the right to force our humanness upon the earth?

You want to talk about human rights?

What is wrong with being human?

What is right?

Is it right that we allow some humans to kill other humans?

Is it right that we will not allow some humans to die when and how they want to?

Is it right that we forcibly create humans just to use them for the benefit of other humans?

Is it right that some humans use the suffering of other humans for their own enjoyment?

Is it right that some humans enjoy inflicting suffering upon other humans?

Do we have the right to force our humanness upon the earth?

Humans cannot even agree on their own human rights.

You want to talk about human rights?

What is wrong with being human?

What is right?

When do we talk about earth rights?

Your words are too much common sense for the world leaders. I believe if the children of the leaders were Soldiers. The lost of life would be more meaningful to them. You made a strong point that seem to be very logical. The poor innocence cities and people in the way of hate and war pay for the price for the men who speak of war as the way to peace. War and peace should not be spoken in the same sentence. A outstanding poem.
