THINGS

THINGS

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

Some we use

Some we waste

Some we’ve left

Forgotten in haste

Lost forever

Found by another

Used again

Saved by a mother

Thrown in a bag

Out with the trash

Loaned to a friend

Sold for the cash

Kept in a box

Thrown on the floor

Used them all up

Then bought some more

Manufactured

Sold in bulk

Worn on a hat

Took for a walk

Kicked to the curb

Displayed in a case

Kept on a leash

Rubbed in your face

Torn into pieces

Saved and collected

Sat and waited for

Come unexpected

Came to grips with

Ate for lunch

Painted a color

Tied in a bunch

Cooled with water

Burnt with fire

Been below you

Lifted up higher

Put together

Taken apart

Felt with your body

Felt with your heart

Some little edits between lines are needed but the flow was excellent and the wording flawless.

I like the poem. The poem open the door to the many purposes of old and new things. I like the many examples. A strong ending to a excellent poem.
