Hurricanes of Silence

Hurricanes of Silence

A Poem by Em
"

From the prompt: what would weather be like if it happened inside?

"
there is a tornado in the kitchen
it swirls and swirls
taking everything with it
everything is out of place
and wrong

there is a thunderstorm in the basement
everything is wet and salty
salty?
that’s weird

there is an earthquake in the bathroom
everything shakes loose
falling
cracked
how do you put things back together?
everything is broken

there is a fire in the library
books swirl and burn
words and thoughts drift away in the smoke
thoughts?
that must be a mistake

there is a silence in the bedroom
nothing moves
nothing changes
somehow it is the worst

Love love love this. Sometimes the worst feeling is numbness. I love how you use the chaos of the storms to represent the emotions of the narrator.
