Sugar & Fire

Sugar & Fire

A Poem by Mey
"

A glass of absinthe

"

I rest

Hanging on glass lips,

Waiting.

Suspended,

Over a pool of madness.

I can’t stay here forever.

You raise that expensive lighter,

And set the madness free.

Fire runs through me.

Dripping.

Clawing upwards.

Leavening me blackened,

And sickly sweet.

Then you lift me up,

And drown me.

Drawing me deep into your madness,

Swirling me about.

Once the heat is gone,

You run your lips over me.

Stealing every drop of that sweet nectar,

Then toss me aside.

I am only an appetizer.

A teaser.

A taste.

I am only the spoon with which you stir your drink.

And the glass is still half full.
