Control

Control

A Poem by Hazem Elashaal

My life,

My chained life,

Held down from my desires and curiosities,

Held down without reason or cause,

Held down until I shattered the floor of insecurities,

I now stand in reverse, in another world,

I see from another light,

I am not held down here,

I am free.

I like the visual order/shape of your poem as well as its content. Women share a special bond in regards to our treatment and perception of us by the world. Thanks for sharing your poem.

Interesting piece. I don't immediately see where the title comes into play, but looking it over again, I see it. I understand the feeling of having a "chained life" as you say. It can be difficult and with the little tastes of freedom I have had, I can totally agree with this poem.
It is a good piece.
