A Walk In The Park

A Walk In The Park

A Poem by Lisa C
"

Hope you walk along with me as grass becomes greener somehow skies bluer with white cotton wool clouds

"

The sun beats down warming my skin
bringing cheer to this dull world
summer is here in all her glory
sunny days and warm nights
bringing barbecues and parties
(pre lockdown, of course)

brightly coloured flowers bow their heads
in worship to that greater being in the sky
grass becomes greener somehow
skies bluer with white cotton wool clouds
the feel of silken breeze
whispering over heated skin is bliss

a stray sunbeam dazzles my eyes
as a stronger gust of wind rustles leaves
making the sunlight appear to dance
with the shadows
sounds of children laughing, having fun
and birds in the trees, calling to each other
this is summer at its finest

I sit amidst this splendour
alone on a park bench
as people walk by
they don’t see me, busy as they are
with their phones and music
this world can be a lonely one
for someone with a disability

sometimes you feel
overlooked and forgotten
until one person catches your eye
and smiles, making you feel better
your mouth stretches
into an answering smile
not so lonely after all

'.. sometimes you feel - overlooked and forgotten - until one person catches your eye - and smiles, making you feel better - your mouth stretches - into an answering smile - not so lonely after all

To feel alone yet, finally find that one person surely shows that being found is proof of your self-made courage.. and the magic word - 'patience'! We're never wholly alone unless we lock mind and all it rules within invisibility You waited, meant to find the ultimate person. Your words are a lesson to those who need to keep learning! Keep safe, take care, Lisa!

Please forgive: made so many typos, think they're gone now, Lisa)

I love your bright upbeat mood wrapped in all the standard summer imagery. This poem has too many boring over-used images like blue sky & green grass. Ho hum. Try using all the crayons in the box, instead of only nondescript primary colors. Try noticing more about summer than just the sun, sky, & grass. There's a big wide world out there. Look at it carefully, since observation is a writer's most important tool (((HUGS)))

this poem is not about summer it's about a walk in the park ;-D but thanks
I agree dear Lisa. All of us need to feel, we are not alone.

I loved the above lines. I go daily to the park and I befriended many. Good to talk and maybe play a game of Chess. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
