On The Underside of Lilies

On The Underside of Lilies

A Poem by Heart Of A Wolf

     On the underside of lilies

I now peacefully lay,

Gaurded over by angels

Awaiting judgement day.

The troubles of life no longer concern me.

Earthly cares seem faded and gray.

Hardships in life no longer existed

When they took my life away.

I vagely remember sleeping under a bridge

When the economy rose above my means.

I recall strangers laughing at me,

But only as if in dreams.

The clothes i wore were ragged,

Hanging off a starving frame.

My body betrayed the life I lived

When no longer people knew my name.

I must have been cold many nights

For I see myself huddled in one lone blanket.

They took everything I ever owned

Just to pay off the debt.

I died one lonely summer night

For the wedding band still on my hand.

It was the only treasure left to me

When they took my home, my children, my land.

As the government took my reason for living,

The theives took my life away.

No longer living the hardships of life,

Beneath lilies I now do lay.
