Balance

Balance

A Poem by Mike Mardis
"

A poem delving into societies creation of leaders and followers.

"
We were doomed all along.
Without followers, there are no leaders.
The Sheppard is lost with no
One to be heard. All the strong
Couldn't be without the weak.
And a repressor cannot afflict
Without those who gave him power,
Those who listen when he will speak.
As there is no order without chaos,
And no religion before Eden was lost.

I like how the pendulum swings in this one Mike as if balance was not achived by putting the same weight on either side but but a move and its countermove. It is indicative of interdependance of the common mistake to take for granted those who we don't seem to know or regard. Oh if the chess board was only full of queens it would not be a game of tension it would just be a constant cat-fight.

Nice on Mike (Damn it kept typing Mikey)

Is it my claravoyance?

Wow I really loved this....kind of haunting in a good way though. I agree with the lines where you talked about how there can't be any leaders without followers and people can't be strong without the weak. Everyone has there own place and we should all just be ourselves and let the others play the role they have. I really enjoyed this- very nicely done.

I love this poem. It is such a dance of finding balance! All of your statements hit deep social and political lines without going into too much detail. Great poem!

I like how you state things that if we didn't have them we wouldn't have the other such as if we didn't have light we wouldn't have a shadow.
