It started with a hug

It started with a hug

A Poem by MikeV
"

The concept of the importance of a hug, was what gave me the idea to write this

"
Outside the window
The little boy stares
He has no one to hold
No one who cares

His dads always gone
His moms in the earth
He's an only son
His mom died at his birth

"Is it my fault that you're gone?"
" is that why daddy doesn't love me?"
"Was it something, I did wrong?"
"Why won't daddy hug me?"

The little boy pulls his hands apart
Just as he does each night
The he touches his heart
And awaits a reply

His dad who had just arrived
Heard his little boys prayers
As tears filled his eyes
He whispers through the air

"It was never your fault, that mommy died"
" I'm sorry I don't show that I love you enough"
" son, I love you more then life"
"Now, come and give me a hug"

The little boy turned with a start
And began to run
Lifted, his hand from his heart
And whispered "thank you mom"

Wow Mike, this is so sad, yet such a beautiful ending. I love the flow of this and the thoughts you have penned are very thought provoking. We don't realise in our own sadness, that others also need comfort and when they don't get that comfort, assume that everything must be their fault.
This is just beautiful

Wow, this is so touching, endearing, MikeV. You captured the guilt,
Abandonment of how a child might feel from first loosing a parent
And the other one not showing them enough love, with profound imagery,
And honesty. Wonderful use of rhymes and meter. The icing on the
The cake was the ending, the father's realization of being emotionally
absent and rectifying it. Brilliant write, thanks for sharing! :)
