Lost

Lost

A Poem by Regan Meade

As a nomad she is always alone
Whether it was by choice or not
She is alone.

Her family killed by a monster
One who feared what their kind could do.
She was left.

The kind heart that took her in.
Taught her to fight
Her heart was happy.

But nothing lasted long.
It all turned to ash within her hands,
The rain washed everything away.

Her heart was that of a child's-- so alone.
She was alone in the world with no one.
Her family taken, her friends dead.

The pain of being lost
Is the ultimate sacrifice for those like her
She used to so sure.

Now within the woods
She sits among-st the shadows
They swallow her up.

In blinding darkness
Her tears aren't heard
Her sorrow is left behind.

This is the penalty for love.
It was the execution of a heart.
It was the price to pay for always being lost.
