A day like this

(oh who am I to fool

it's every day that's a day like this

when) I want a man's love,

(but more)

I want all his love,

(and I've got to be his only love)

and I wonder how I ask for too much

when all I want is to be the first

(even when I am not)

(Not only the first,

I have to be the best)

woman he has ever loved

and every day he must remind me

(even when he stops).

Rochelle, you just described the perfect woman to me. The one who, shows her man that she is his, and he is hers, only. The one who makes him feel like, whether of not she was, it was the first.

Don't ever stop needing Rochelle, its the difference between casual, and long lasting, togetherness.

Wonderful writing!

This was really sweet.. I think most girls feel this way. The title really caught my attention also.

Woman are the diamonds in a man life. I loved the set-up. The mind like to wander to the good and bad side of thought. A excellent poem.

You deserve a mans love, deep respect and total honor.. anything less is not good enough.

This is beautifully expressed and well crafted.

This one is different from others you have where you're almost apologetic about how you are sometimes. This one just lays it out there as if to say -- this is what I want and I won't settle for anything less. I like it. I like the honesty of it. I like the structure. I like the almost saying, "I'm sorry, but this is how it's going to be." Well done, dear.

I liked it, it's pretty basic and obvious stuff and perhaps it's even too straight forward, but that's the complexity of life and love and I think anyone who wants anything less will be well satisfied. That's where the heart of the poem is, wanting something everyday... and that's why the close is kind of heart breaking.

I liked it.

A hard synopsis to be able to live up to / A demanding sort of love, which is usually the catalyst for pain and regret . . .

Even within lines is this, "and I wonder how I ask for too much" / No, I do not believe asking for total love is asking too much / I do, however back up when it is time to "rate" the ones gone on before . . .

You poem has much in its favor / A stepping stone kind of cadence / A ambitious scenario . . .

Lofty expectations? Maybe that is where we go astray now. We can't pool our thoughts on the same page and our hearts slip through the sieve of time. I liked the format and your take on the matter. Very well expressed.
