Once

Once

A Poem by Ana B.

She was a fairy beauty dreaming about the world

He was a knight with excessive compunction, fighting for his concord

They met by accident a long time ago

She loved him. Little did he know...

She was impulsive, he was no saint

Both driven by gravity, bouts and restraint

Nobody noticed in their eyes the silent glow

He loved her. Little did she know

Time is unstoppable. Roads are getting separate...

Her heart bloomed, his was getting desperate

They didn't know about each other's torments though

They looked at the moon and wished. Little did they know

Nothing is permanent, so someday life will just drain

Yet they didn't find each other even if the truth was plain

Like most in life, we let our only light to flow

And spend the night at the window. Little do we know...

I love this wistful, romantic write! The words have such deep meaning and the rhyming and rhythm make it even more interesting.

A sad tale my friend.

What we missed is unknown. But the unknown could be what we needed. Thank you dear Poet for the excellent poetry.

You are welcome Ana.
I favorited this one... even with its likely candidates for flawdom - "excesive" - excessive AND "unstopable" - unstoppable: but knowing you're grasp of language, I really don't want either to be a simple typo - I would rather that EACH might be a term I don't recognize for a shade of meaning that will again pause me.

thank you very much for the review :)
That sounds like a beautiful fairytale. And I have always been against fairy tales in general..... even when I was a kid. But this poem makes me want to go out, and make a fairytale come true. :) :)
My favourite lines would be
"She was a fairy beauty dreaming about the world
He was a knight with excesive compunction, fighting for his concord" and

"She was impulsive, he was no saint
Both driven by gravity, bouts and restraint"

The repitions you used add that needed punch to the poem! :) In my library!

I like the pattern of this poem, and I always like repetition, so repeating the same words at the end of each stanza worked very well for me. I noticed a small spelling error, easily fixed, unstopable should be unstoppable, otherwise a nice work!

It's just lovely the you ended each stanza with that little d.........know, and the first line of the last stanza,"Nothing is permanent, so someday life will just drain. It's simply nice, sort of life some fairy tale.

Thank you very much! Life sort of inspired thi fairytale :D
You managed to paint a beautiful picture and I took the journey besides the knight and the fairy until the end. For those brief moments, you almost tricked me in to thinking I was them.

Loved it, well done! :)
