Power

There was a rose, hidden from the world

A keeper of beauty.

Petals of rubies and leaves of smoldering gold

Shining so smoothly.

 

As ever, beauties need protection

From the world’s windy thoughts…

This precious, subtle collection

That should go on at any cost.

 

Cause in this orb, sometimes forsaken

Even genuine ‘’rights’’ get ‘’wrong’’

One’s weakness is often mistaken

With the common notion of what is strong.

 

The greater the beauty, the greater the decoy

When it should be pure and intact…

Cause to build is much harder than to destroy

In this world where beauty’s always  clear yet always  abstract…

I think i'm running out of superlative's for your work and must recycle well worn expressions as wonderful, fantastic etc, the value of your writing is unchanged by this lack on my part you are beyond doubt one of today's great poets, worthy of fame for your work:

things that are beautiful on the outside do need protecting...because inside they can become ugly...
and that flower becomes a decoy, a fake---because what's inside is a thorn...and it destroys.

True beauty isnt whats on the outside - the facade that many fall for - but whats inside.
Real beauty can give the wrong impression of being weak because it has attributes that are looked down upon in the dog-eat-dog world, concern, empathy, pity - all viewed as weak when they are in fact measures of one's strength.
The greater the (outward) beauty - the greater the chance of it being a cover for badness within. Building is not the endeavour of the shallow - they much prefer to destroy because its an easy thing to do.
This must be the most philosophical write of yours Ana. The most thought provoking and deep of yours I have read. Well penned.
