Mellow

Mellow

A Poem by Ana B.

Something in the way goodnight was spoken

Tells me that this tender link is broken…

Nothing left to do, just breathe in the slow air

That sweeps the inch of dust I gathered with this glare.

Was I always this bitter?

Or is this a new flavor?

Life has made me a quitter

When I just began to savor

The sweetness.

And how come some words amplify the silence,

While emptiness screams in the night…

I really believed I needed guidance

When all along I was blind to the light.

Maybe the sun shines somewhere else

For someone …whole…

I did try to climb those divine stairs

But all I did is bruise my soul.

the poem hits deep, quite amazing, like the lines, well structured, good flow in the poem

And how come some words amplify the silence,
While emptiness screams in the night
nailed it

Thank you very much for your words, Royce :)
i like the parallels of religions and love...to believe or not...and once we lose that faith in either...we become cynical, lifeless...words mean nothing, actions mean less....
this poem just ripped at my gut...the torment pours out.
