I came a bit late but nevertheless it is quite an event to read writings in where some form of beliefs are expressed. As in this writing your beliefs come streaming through. I am not a great fan of changing fonts or trickery at large but I felt that the writing took a more personal feeling in this font. It also brought me back to school, the three kings play, the adorned tree, the nativity scene and altogether the expectation that something is about to happen, which is written clearly. I must confess I don't equate the Christ with the birth of Jesus, which I think it has to do with belief systems at large, I say that because the possibilities granted through the acceptance of The Christ are still very much a thing of mystery if one is to endorse what's written in Christian esotericism books. All that again greatly depicted in your writing.
An invitation to accept an unknown journey.
Thank You.

However, I except the witness in the scriptures of the life and message and Salvation offered in Jesus Christ. My Faith has seen me through some very dark times in my life. My Faith is my personal relationship with God, and that includes accepting that He became flesh in Christ and was born of a woman.
What are we as Christians doing to keep Christ at the center of this season? Are we serving those that need to be clothed, fed, and have someone listen to their grief? Maybe this is the time that we mend broken friendships or show love towards someone that's hard to love, like a co-worker or a family member. One of my favorite lines in a Christmas carol is as follows, "When our soul felt its worth." Merry Christmas MomzillaNC!
I believe the Christmases you share with you son are just as meaningful as this poem points out. It's attitude that makes Advent special and has little to do with the passing years or the changing of lights.
Exactly... I really want to lighting myself this Christmas. Christmas has two face, Looking what I have done and another looking for what I must to do. A beautiful write this Christmas....
In the shadows of all our Christmases
We see shadows of the past behind us,
And live the present in the shadows of Hope.
In shadows of Hope, look to an eternal future.
yes, this is uplifting, but reminds me more of christmas when i was a kid, rather than christmas now...it seems to have lost its luster in all the commercialism and capitalism.
the real meaning went out with those old big dark lights we used to have on the trees back in the fifties and early sixties....beautiful poem.

IDK, I think the Christmases I share with my son are MORE meaningful than those I had as a kid. Christmas, when I was a kid, was that rare time when my home and family life was better. My mom was depressed and sad at Christmas, but tried hard and successfully to be kinder in her focus on a Faith based holiday. Christmas was important to her to honor as Christians. But, the Christmases I share with my own little family are more like the caps on a wonderfully loving year. And, I think I find even deeper meaning in the Christmas practices of the Methodist church than I did in the Pentecostal churches in which I grew up. I will say that my mother taught us the lessons I tried to convey in my essay, "Why Do We Give Presents?" The Methodist churches I've been part of all my adult life have definitely reinforced those sentiments; and, I've tried very hard to always make clear what Christmas really is to my son. I know that all our close circle of Christian friends feel the same. For that matter, our Jewish and Islamic friends faithfully and soberly preserve the meanings in their own holiday rituals. I believe there are far more folks out there who understand Christmas truths than we realize -- that's probably why we keep having these discussions.
