Tree

Tree

A Poem by Jason

I want to stand tall like a tree.
It would take a hurricane, tornado, or typhoon
Type winds to topple me.
You would see my brethren and next to kin
From one sea to another.
When the sun and heat become too oppressive
In the shade of my leafy branches
You may take cover.
My roots would run deep into the earth
Where even in a drought I’ll
Quench my thirst.
Every year my fruits and nuts
Will help to sustain and create life anew.
An unmovable tree is what I want
The world to see in me.

I like your sidekick moments, Jason. This one is filled with self consciousness, or awareness I should say, a goal to Be Strong and Sturdy and Be here for eternity.

And that's what's up!
Poetry is such a gift from God huh? How we can say things in such words that mean so much.
Peace

Nicely done! Nice story of a great aspiration! It would be a wonderful thing indeed to be compared to this amazing treasure of nature.

Thanks for sharing this! This is great! Such great symbolism...I especially liked:

When the sun and heat become too oppressive
In the shade of my leafy branches
You may take cover.
My roots would run deep into the earth
Where even in a drought I'll
Quench my thirst.

Well done! Keep up the excellent work! : )

I love the idea you're conveying here: trees are such symbols of stoic power. The ideal existence: bend, but never break. I love the way you play the elements into this; things so out of our control that we need some sort of shelter. I think the last stanza of your piece says it all:
My roots would run deep into the earth
Where even in a drought I'll
Quench my thirst.
Every year my fruits and nuts
Will help to sustain and create life anew.
An unmovable tree is what I want
The world to see in me.

You want to make the world a better place...I dig it.
