Look at me...

Look at me...

A Poem by MrsHydrangea
"

I wrote this in 1996. I had a crush on someone who didn't feel the same.

"
Look at me...

What is it, that you see?

A young, pathetic little girl, with false hopes upon her eyelids?

I place my beating heart in hand, this is my salutation.

The wooden floor, which lies beneath

calls to my knees, as I kneel at your feet.

Splinters pierce into my flesh

but the pain I feel is frivolous

For loving you brings much more suffering.

Your gaze is such, I can't explain

Transparency comes in to play.

I would bear my heart and soul to you,

If only I were able.

Heart-felt intentions surround you now,

But deep inside you question me and wonder of my motives

As if I have the slightest control over whom it is my heart seeks

Once again you pass me by,

With every stride, my heart is drained.

I have no defense against your presence,

Which is strong and lingers still

Wishes, dominate my mind

and float in solitude.

I realize to my regret, your eyes,

They long for someone else.

But at this time I possess no shame

I am holding out my hand to you

Although I know you'll never take it.

About
I enjoy reading and attempting to write. I have fear of allowing anyone other than my husband to read my work, but here I am, facing my fear head on. I do not claim to be a great writer or even a good.. more..
