Saudades

Saudades

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Alluvion of emotions,
evicted peace of mind.
Toil under impeding memories.

The long journey back to station,
burden of longing in hand,
It overwhelms my boundaries .

None proffers alleviation,
sensation of being mislaid,
building castles of miseries.

World I crave tears hold in reflection.
Words I etch seem flawed and frayed.
Woeful bids once more I perceive.

Often question my intentions,
They lack purpose or perfection.

That is a lovely photo; thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Now for your poem.
I feel futility, loss, misdirection, and conflict.
Being able to make the reader FEEL SOMETHING is the purpose of poetry. This piece meets that goal.
My favorite phrase: "building castles of misery".
Great job,Mrudula!
Keep writing.

Powerful and wonderful words shared my friend.

Most of us know the words above. Too late for take-backs of words and bad actions. Thank you Mrudula for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you John. Your thoughts on my words mean a lot to me.
Masterful expression even in Portugese. This deep state of longing bring out castles of nostalgia. Raw emotions can expose deep wounds of the past.

You are welcome dear Mrudula...
Saudades... this was the first Portuguese word I learned... the missing... the aching... the longing that cannot be satisfied. How your thoughts carry that longing across the vast waters of your world. The long journey, oh it seems endless at times. Endless. Desejando-lhe tanta paz, meu querido. Como espero que você esteja dançando lá mesmo nas sombras. Um grande abraço.

Thank you Andrew, that is very uplifting to know.
It's exciting to see you experiment like you do. You don't want sit on your haunches and write the same ole thing 10 times. Thats awesome. Heavy stuff here with heavy language. Were the half rhymes of mind and hand intentional? Sometimes poets do that to throw people off. Line 10 i would put a comma after world and "to" inbetween tears and hold. I say that lightly. I dont like to change others work. I enjoyed it. CD
