A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Stern
Pansophy,
Obstructs accessing
heart's reveries extramural
Fixt

Love
nestled in
Wants its privacy
Pulls heavy drapes down
apt

Pain
built cities
of shanties in mass
Desires freedom from it all
Exit

Scars
I wear are
mostly self-inflicted
harsh badges of neglect
Own.

End
Eternal
to impervious
beyond the bounds of clamant
Cold.

you are impossible to read without meanings flowing in multiple directions i can read this so many times and get lost in it so easy. The way you say things is mesmerizingly sweet even when the words are of harshness and pain it is a trick of your tone that is very you and very refreshing to experience

Ah, snapping photos while driving! It is hard to resist when the right landscape or subject presents itself. I enjoy seeing your photos along with your poems. I always think photos add another dimension to words and can say something more to the reader if they are willing to listen to the scene.

I liked the way each of these stanzas could stand on its own if you chose to present it that way, but also, when taken together could present a kind of year's worth of moods and experiences. At least that was the way it transferred in my mind. The interiority of the person, and how much that can impact action or be hidden from the world.

My two favorite of the set were the ones that began with pain and scars. The line 'pain built cities of shanties' is excellent and creates such a vivid scene. And the stanza about self-inflicted scars is wonderful because of the reflection and interplay between experience and feeling that it set off in my head. I really enjoyed thinking about these ideas.

Great work, Mrudula.

I hope your holidays are wonderful as well, Mrudula! Thank you
Your interesting arrangement of words almost begs to be analyzed & I am drawn to the single word lines, reading them in succession & other patterns. I love the way these single words seem to draw a circle around your overall message. There are so many ways to read you & you are ever-changing, which keeps things fresh! I hope your holiday season is full of love & joy (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Obrigada Querida. Tudo de bom.
Very lovely poem. It had a good flow. The poem reminds me of my eldest brother who committed suicide when he couldn't deal with the pain, rape, and abuse he endured.
