Can You?

Can You?

A Chapter by Ms Jessica Renee
"

Do you think you can?

"
Previous Version
This is a previous version of Can You?.

Sunlight beams as I sit alone

Can you see it?

My heart slowly collapsing

Wind rustles as I think alone

Can you feel it?

My soul slightly dying

Can you?

See how my eyes show it

That the star even reflect it

I'm slowly losing it

Can you?

See how my tears prove it

That the crowd sees it

I'm not fighting it

Can you hear the music playing?

Hear me singing alone

Can you listen to it?

Hear my voice quivering

Sunlight fades

The wind stops

My music ceases

Can you tell?

Can you?

Feel the lasting pain

Watch the tears fall with the rain

Can you?

Tell that my heart aches

See how I am about to break

My eyes show it

The stars reflect it

I'm slowly losing it

Can you see that?

My tears prove it

The crowd sees it

I'm not fighting it

Can you see that?

Oh can you?

Powerful emotion in this poem. I like the flow of words and thoughts. When you fall from love. Can be hard to get up again. I like the question at the end of the poem. Leave the reader with a thought to ponder. A excellent poem.

I didn't know this was a lyric but I felt it. This piece would really sing as part of a song. The words "can you" are a cool catch on the beat. One approach would be to pause there..."can you?" for tension and drama.

Well written.
