Bastions of History

Bastions of History

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Bastions of History

My unrivaled heart

speaks in tongue of English lore,

fancies the  19th century frock

is beguiled by the romantic musings

of John Keats,

enraptured by the melodious offerings

of the distant nightingale

is held captive,

unchained and dauntless

by these

bastions of history.

Something of which we both have in common, Jacob...thank you!
Theres a lot to be said for bodice-ripping periods in history Kelly - with the men in their pantaloons and the girls in their corsets - Im sure it was a very naughty time, if one had the key to the chastity belt, that is, lol.
This write has class though - isn't bawdy or camp and has a provenance about it that makes the reader want to know more - about the writer and the time.
Super musings K.
