Some Ordinary Joe

Some Ordinary Joe

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers
"

...a birthday tribute to Marilyn Monroe

"

Some Ordinary Joe

...she had dreams of picket fences,
that gallantry and chivalry were alive and well
and living within close proximity
of Wilshire Boulevard.
And she believed that one day
her prince would come...

some ordinary Joe.

-Happy Birthday, Marilyn -

...this is a quote from a poem I wrote for Marilyn. I make a concentrated effort to remember her on her birthday and the fifth of August. If you were able to catch the documentary on her life on "Lifetime" last night, please let me know what you thought!

A great story here. Joe ensure she had roses till his death. Marilyn, a beautiful woman never controlled or understood. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Nice to meet you to
Marilyn's story is heart wrenching .. no matter the view .. what a brutal reality .. the farce of Wiltshire Blvd. .. and gone worse from her time in my opinion ..
so noble ..your tribute to her .. :(

A piece of immaculate beauty she was among us. Her joyful spirit and her class walks everyday, on our heart's red carpet of dreams. Great tribute my friend! :D

I just KNEW you would post this yesterday! You were always a big fan of Marilyn Monroe and your poems for her are memorable. I did not see the documentary. Was it good? Lydi**

It's always interesting to see who portrays her. I just wish I didn't know how it ended...thank you.. read more
I often wonder about her and Jim (her first hubby and the epitome of an ordinary Joe) and whether they were truly in love or a convenience. One things for sure they both deserved love as does everyone. She may have been happier with an ordinary joe but (for purely selfish reasons) Im glad she shot to stardom. She probably did more women more good for body confidence with her curves than the previous stars and starlets.
Same way Kelly Brooke is now. Both beautiful - both real women.
Thanks for posting this one Kelly-boop-boop-be-doo ;p

this is terrific..."where have you gone joe dimaggio a nation turns its lonely eyes to you"

and marilyn turned her eyes to you also...no ordinary joe...no picket fences for marilyn...so caught up in her whirlwind life...it was like she enjoyed the fame but didn't have time to be her...i think sometimes she wished she could just be norma jean again.

you really capture her in this piece.

I believe you're right, Jacob! Thank you!
Well captured sentiments Kelly in a nice tribute. She reminds me of how fragile life is and how easily we slip from this world. Amy Winehouse is another such sad icon.

Sorry I don't get 'Lifetime' here but i got happy and sad memories of Marilyn, it would have been so beautiful if she could have found that dream of picket fences and her ordinary Joe, I know many of us ordinary Joe's would have come running for such a lovely person and beautiful soul such as she was, nice birthday wish Kelly, you got it just right :)
