Rain, Rain

Rain, Rain

A Poem by Kelly Scheppers

Rain, Rain

Intermittent drops of rain

are falling,

plummeting from sleepy subway trains

and window panes,

leaving traces behind

as people shuffling through

                  splash

through its puddles, plentiful.

You are right Kelly. Rainy days, perfect for writing.
Such a wonderfully short piece which manages to capture the particular sound of rainfall fantastically. It particularly reminds me of a rainy day, as I sit on a train on my way home after an exhausting day - and in spite of the exhaustion, I can't help enjoy the racing raindrops across the window panes. Wonderful gem, Kelly!

...those moments that are passing need to be embraced...so eloquently noted, my friend! x
my splashing days are over Kelly... even a few years ago there wasn't a puddle I didn't splash in.. splash splash splash.... it was not only fun but people looked at me funny, especially when I invited them to join me... ;0) but no more... rain makes these bones ache and wet feet has lost its desire... I still like to watch the rain, see the water rushing down the street or pile up at the sewer grate if it is raining too hard, but from a warm and dry place at the window all cozy and comfy with a coffee, you know...

loved your poems and all the splashes it reminded me of... thanks Kelly

Reminds me of those times the rain makes me feel sleepy on the train, but once those doors open everyone hustles on out to work... trying to dodge puddles. Kind of a dreary scene brought to life by the big splash. A childlike moment.

Well done, Kelly. I have a thing for rain that goes back to childhood. I like the sound on a roof. It's raining here now as a matter of fact, so this is appropriate. The SPLASH says it all. Splash through puddles, splash through life.

Hey babe :) gorgeous wee piece I love the third line so much. We're much like this leaving impressions whether fleeting like a rain drop or something deeper. Saying so much in so few words. Leaves deep thoughtful impressions on this girl! R xo

we get to make up our own minds if this is a social commentary on the mindless hordes ..or great advice ..when it rains ..put on your boots and go splashing .. or for the more risqué among us .. get naked and dance ;)) the image of rain falling off a subway train is very original ...sparks me imagination .. i think you are telling us to go splashing ;)

Beautifully capturing the thoughts of watching those raindrop patterns and the thoughts they bring to mind, of the senses coming alive and the calmness watching them from the warmth of indoors bring.
Lovely thoughts Kelly.
