Princess Filth

Princess Filth

A Poem by Aimee Mahathy
"

a happy little dream of mine

"

There is a poet
A princess with a heart of filth
Her heart is split in four
And her mind goes by ten different names
She sings a song but never remembers the words

This child is going boldly anywhere
Becoming an adult overnight
She'll face her demons and spit in their faces
While shedding the comforts she enjoyed all her life
Smiling all the while, this is what she wants?

Twenty pounds lighter in two months
Her family will think the royal is dead
Friends will worry but then try to forget
And the new creature will become a legend
A princess in rags with a heart of self-reliant stone

She'll walk on deceptive sidewalks
And sleep with the pigeons
To think, she could've been a scholar
Facing books instead of a city skyline
Instead, this girl chose true freedom

True, she might die
She will lie
She might get messed up
Or beat up
But on the other hand
She might just achieve
Her truest dreams
Those deepest ones
Lined in silver and tears

There is a princess
With a heart of dreams and filth
She'll set off in a few days
For a future unknown
A legend of the present

Fresh, darkly layered, original. Nice.

I'm 33 now, much more settled into myself, and getting back to it again. The previous about me is gonna stay for now, since it's still somewhat accurate and I need some time to figure out what to say .. more..
