The Stand

The Stand

A Poem by Abby Leach
"

I don't normally write gay/lesbian, but I think the world really needs this one.

"
I'm the one
the only one
who has some sense left in me.

Everyone else thinks
they have the right to judge
but what they think
isn't good enough.

My paper has been stained
with the tears
I won't cry
for all those lonely souls
have no one to turn to.

And to think
I'd hoped
to change them
at least
the people so close.

But it's all their fault
they turned their backs on me
I shall do the same to them.

I feel like maybe
my job isn't done
my journey will continue
the stars will align.

No one but these suffering hearts
can ever understand the pain
the loss
the rejection
they feel when pushed away by
friends
family
society.

Our world is big enough
our god is strong enough
to love all
no matter who they love.

It will never be over
It will never be through
but after everything that has happened
only a few things are left to do.

Time is running out
peace is running short
Many more coming out
we might cause an uproar.

We are better than this.
They have done us no wrong.
How can you judge so quickly
without knowing them for long.

They may not know it
but I will salute.
For bravery and independence.
What do you do now?
The choice is up to you.

Do you approve of gay/lesbian rights? If not, give me one good reason why gays/lesbians shouldn't be here. Because I guarantee you there isn't a single reason.

I like this experimital form change colors and zise of words. I t s make very moving. Words of pain and maybe there will be hope. You put so many questions inside. And for sure there is not exist single reason for gay and lesbinian be here. And nowhere else they have right on life and love. They have right to be accept by society and all world. Never stop fight for them. Blue is not just one warm color warm is also all spectrum on rainbow flag.

I wonder why love so strong is so blindly rejected. I wonder, when they say their beliefs, where and when and who made those rules. We are human in the end, not someone beyond human So it's a frivolous thing to even brand any sort of love as a taboo, simply because, love doesn't follow any rules. Attraction is normal and it just happens. Now some of the playing you have done with the fonts is good, like how you struck never out and all, but for me personally it hinders reading in some places, I did a similar experimentation and i know it's drawbacks. Overall there is a nice flow to the whole poem and the emotions are very clearly expressed. I like it much ^^ A very powerful and thought provoking poem ^^

Yes, I just feel like people take it as a horrible thing to love someone of the same gender.
Breathtaking. I love it. It is so honest and true and raw. I love it.

I love this, so strong and true. Love the statement behind it.
I agree with you and some people should just let them love whoever they want to, they are happy and we are all the same at the end of the day after all.

You are truly cool
First the font size change and colors
its a sign of individuality
you nailed it
Second your message is profound
i will be honest i can judge when its someone i care for
its wrong i admit it
third you have this overall flow perfectly depicting a mind that is judged
it feels and looks exactly the way you presented

Hats come off
You are the boss lol

It is very beautiful. They way you have put the thoughts of the community in words is simply incredible. I firmly agree with this and take a stand as well.

Wow, very nice way to take a stand. I love your use of color and font changes in the poem, sometimes it takes away from the words, but I feel in this case it reinforces your message. This is a beautiful expression and agree with you. Thank you for sharing your poem.
