Kindred Contempt

Kindred Contempt

A Story by N.D. Reed
"

From my dark fantasy world.

"
The woman, battered and exhausted, came across an old barn. It was long abandoned and in a state of disrepair, but it would suffice as a place to hide. She huddled into a corner, dark and damp, and sat there in silence. The white rays of the moon shone down on her through a gap in the roof. As she sat, bathed in the purest light, she thought back on the past few days. For years she was treated as another villager, one of them. But once they learned she was a mage it all went to hell’s doorstep. They called her a witch. They tried to burn her.. She was no longer safe in the place she had once called home. And now, she was on the run from the people who once loved her. Her only allies were the sun and the stars. It was time to go.
