April's Fool

April's Fool

A Poem by NJ Schneider
"

Happy April First.

"

There she is

Curled in the corner

Our little fool

A total loaner

Her head in the clouds

Her feet dancing on water

She glinds so smoothly

Never seeming to totter

She plays and sings

Through her private dreamland

Full of forests and beaches

Without all the horrid sand

They watch her judgingly

With their icy stares

Wishing her wonderland

Was only theirs

One breaks from the pack

And grabs her small arm

She smiles kindly

She's never known harm

They hurt her body

And lock her in a room

The walls are plain and clean

But with a sense of gloom

And now

She's strapped to a bed

All sense of wonder

Gone from her head

There she is

And I feel so cruel

My baby girl

  My little fool

Well, you can interpret it how you want, but I know what it's really about. Let's see if you can guess.

great write, though i'm not fond of how i interpreted it. i wont go into detail but just mention maybe the unfortunate meet up between a young girl wide eyed and innocent, blind to the horrors of the world and an older man with a lust for that sort of thing. good job though, read effortlessly.
"she glinds so smoothly"
should "glinds" be "glides"?

Guess huh? Well it could be mental illness but I think not. It could be as simple as a young teen wrapped up in a new love that her parents disaprove of and ultimately take steps to stop it by sending her to her room for a period of time. She's in her own dream land thinking of him when she can't be with him. Her parents are concerned and want to protect her, but she's feeling that maybe they are envious that their own relationship is not as wonderful as her's is to her. In the end they step in and send her to her room.

But then again........................maybe not.

oh and in the one line you have the line "She glinds so smoothly" Should the word "glinds" be "glides?"

I love it Niki. You know I do- I told you so myself today. But I love the images in my head- it makes me want to draw them for you- and I just might. Write on, I will always be here to read

Sounds like a mother watching her daughter go in for some medical appointment. And the mothers remorse, for she knows the young child knows not what is happening.

Thats what came to mind when i read this.

Good words flowed with a strong image to boot.
Good job!

First off it reminded me of the Fool tarot card and how the fool is always carefree and plowing ahead into things, then I started thinking it could be about someone suffering with the restrictions of society, and how that we as humans start innocent with our heads in the clouds, then when we grow up we lose that innocence and it's taken away from us. So many thoughts about this piece good job!

Rather sad, dark and a little on the disturbing side. Great imagination and imagery. Well done!

Does this have to do with autism? Whatever it is, it is a sad but well written piece. Great work.

it sounds like a parent describing their daughter's break down and she end up in a hospital with a mental illness. that is how I took it. It does not sound like they completely understand. we spend a lot of time judging the mentally ill because we do not understand them. Especially when they appear out of control.
I don't know... maybe I am way off but you said to guess so here is mine. :)
