Seashell on the ground

SEASHELL ON THE GROUND 

Like a seashell I remain on the ground,

Some notice and pick the best ones,

While some are left around.

I feel I am the left one which no one cares about,

I have been picked once,

But thrown back to the ground.

I feel I am the worst surrounded by the best,

Like a seashell which is lying on the beach,

I feel so alone untouched and beyond one's reach.

I still feel lonely when I have everyone around,

I am diving deep in my agony,

I am waiting to be found.

Care for me before I am buried in the ground,

Otherwise I would be merely lying,

Like a seashell on the ground.

Really like the comparison here. The piece has much more depth than it seems. But yes, one should never let others belittle or just discourage oneself. You are a unique soul and need no one's confirmation. Wonderfully written.
I had a bag full of seashells that i collected on a beach when i was around 7 or 8. Dont know where it is now, but I'll look for it :)

Very relatable, Najam, with a lovely analogy.

Quite often we find that our loneliness is at its zenith when we are amongst a crowd. For in such moments the depth of that loneliness is pushed straight into the spotlight. Loneliness is not always found in solitude. For the humble seashell, its unique beauty will always get it noticed. Even amongst a shore of seashells.

Oh my.. so beautiful, so heart touching.. using a seashell, one of the beautiful things on earth and made it so sad, so lonely. We all crave to be noticed but usually never get that. Sometimes it isn't so bad not to be noticed though. Yes, it might be lonely.. but you won't always be though someone will notice you one day, it might be difficult though for them to come up to you because they also knows how much it hurts to be pushed away and unnoticed. Ahaha I got carried away again. Anyway I really love this poem, I can't wait to read more from you ^^

This is an interesting metaphor you used here! I think it's not a bad thing to want to be noticed but we have to realize that we can never be appreciated as what we are by everyone, only to some..and therein would be our contentment.

I like the usage of something beautiful and fragile. A seashell. Surrounded so many other beautiful objects. We do tend to get lost in the fray, passed over and forgotten because we aren't as bright, as beautiful. I love this poem genuinely. Very good job.
