To Jirkatang

To Jirkatang

A Chapter by Namrata Roy

The beginning of the journey

"

As we planned for a trip to Baratang, Andaman and Nicobar islands, both me and Elsa were highly excited. This District is quite unexplored from the tourism point of view. It includes the mud volcano, Limestone caves and the mangroves. On our way we would pass through Jirkatang. The ancient tribal community popularly known as the Jarwas of the Jirkatang forest are the main attraction of our trip.

We are all ready to explore the virgin beauty of nature. Excitements are running through our nerves but none of us are aware of what other surprises are waiting for us in the dark & dense land of woods. Cameras are made ready to capture each and every frames of our vision. The eagerness in their eyes for the trip robbed my sleep for tonight. Previously, the photographs hanging at the corridor of our resort grabbed my vision and helped us to portray the scenic beauty of Jirkatang in our mind.
