Your Time to Change by Levi Levin

 

You were born in this life with many talents inside you,

Have you discovered them to this day? Sit a spell with me and listen to what I have to say.

 

Some of you grew up hearing criticism all your life that affected your mind,

These things have weighed on you, hurt you inside.

 

You don’t have to accept what people have said,

It’s just their opinion hidden in their head.

 

Rise up and make a new start,

Write down your goals determined from the heart.

 

There is nothing that can hold you back,

Keep marching on when they hate and attack.

 

You must be patient, willing to learn,

Be courageous, don’t fear making a turn.

 

Negative thinking must now go from your mind,

Positive thinking must now unwind.

 

It will not be easy as you make this change,

People may ignore you,think you are strange.

 

But the way you have been going has proved to be wrong,

Make the change today, and you will find where you belong.

Simplicity is something that many writers overlook. Its not a certain college major that will define a good writer, its your creativity and knowing your audience. To write for a general audience requires a general mind and being down to earth. Big fancy words that most people dont use will not grab your readers mind. Maybe it will grab a professors mind that got his degree when he was 16-but most people are not like this. Just being who we are; plain, common, ordinary people-that is what the general public wants.

Yes. Thats the mistake most wannabe writers make. They think if they dont use impossible words and deep imagery, they will not qualify as writers. (I usually make this mistake too) I think the need of today is to write on issues close to the general public's heart in a language easy to assimilate and understand. Heres to a fruitful writing fellowship. Please keep sharing!

A favorite friend of mine for many years has been my thesaurus. Its an excellent word resource for a writer who needs that special word, needs it described different, or simplified.

Oh Yes! A Thesaurus is a Writer's best friend. I am sure you must feel lost without it. I too have lately started banking on 'The Great Thesaurus' on the Internet. It really helps. Thanks for bringing it up.
