You Never Forget

You Never Forget

A Poem by Nerdy_Gal214
"

This poem was really wrote just because...

"

You Never Forget

You never forget the first time you fall

You never forget, even when you're tall

You never forget the first time you scrape your knee

It surely doesn't bring glee

You never forget the first time you cry over friends

Eventually, it does mend

You never forget when you decide what you want to be

And you never forget when you finally get that B

You never forget, what hurts you the most

You never forget when you have a party and get to be the host

Life is a challenge we all have to survive

Some don't make it

Because they forget the good times

Loved this poem. The message is one that really seems to be needed in the world today. We often choose to remember only what has gone wrong. It certainly is the case for anyone who has considered suicide, as the end of the poem tactfully suggests.
I enjoy how the poem moves from early childhood experiences slowly to things that are more significant.
The pacing is also very good, the effect of the second-to-last line being the shortest hinting at the significance of the final line.
There are a lot of good things about this little unassuming poem. My only suggestion would be to complete your sentences with punctuation, but this is by no means considered crucial for poetry of course.
