A Poem by Essy
"

written from a memory of a nightmare

"

Slowly trail the liquid jewels down the side of my face

My heart is pounding

My mouth dry

The cool metal pressed against his head terrifies me

Though I am the one holding it there

I hear a noise

My mother, bloody and bruised, behind me

Her eyes pleading

This image tricks my brain

Do it

There will be no more suffering

Do not

But I have no reason not to

The silver death clicks into position like a soldier to attention

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned
