Miss Walk Away

Miss Walk Away

A Poem by Neurosis

Sharp and piercing

Stolid eyes leave no surprise

You catch them with that hook

Emotionless at no expense

Star struck from where they stood

Oh babe,

You play the game so well

Approach the limit for that real love

Silence speaks louder than the air does

Girl, I had so much to say

But you went and turned away

Oh no, it’s okay

We never got on anyway

I should have known

Cause your name’s Miss Walk Away

Feeling’s a dangerous territory

A thing that needs to be kept contained

You keep your acquaintances behind a fence

Until one grabbed at your wrist

And in that moment you were no longer in control

She captured your affection in humor

Got you longing for her intimacy

And Adorable eccentricities

Oh she made you feel

And you felt so good

But she couldn’t have that power

So you pulled away

And a mere acquaintance

Is where she will stay

Oh Miss Walk Away,

Only I can love you like no one else

In the midst of the night

When there’s no one left

I’ll have you screaming my name

For the rest of our days

Till there’s nothing left
