Zen Hunting

Having failed to obtain enlightenment

In more conventional ways

The once observant Buddhist Monk

Chose to discard the spice fragranced robe

To disregard the frowns and pointing fingers

And take up hunting

Thereafter, in his quest for seemingly even more

Elusive pleasures

He wandered aimlessly, until by chance

In the guise of a wandering Fish Monger

He stumbled upon an aesthetically pleasing graduate

Of similar and significantly satisfying disposition

Whereupon he settled down and grew accustomed

To domesticated bliss

The title is fitting for this fellow which is poem's subject. It is good to see the simple explanation of how he found 'true enlightenment.' His hunt took him to a perfect place. No longer feeling lonely I would say that the cure was perfect for him. This was a pleasant diversion for me this Friday afternoon.

What a lovely story this tells. A monk changing his life totally and then finding someone to share it with....and being happy. We all find our happiness in different ways, don't we? Sometimes the road to happiness is a winding one, but what is meant to be will be. I liked this a lot. Lydi**
