Been there, done it worn the tee shirt out, I know

A Certain Distance

 

The space maintained 

Between you and me

 

In effect

 

That which keeps us close 

But so very far apart

 

Is measured by

 

A mere fraction of a moment

 

That only exists

 

Between one heartbeat and the next

 

Essentially

 

Between life and death itself

 

Suspended

 

Within a solitary fragment

 

A single breath and in the scent and taste

 

You left me savouring

 

Long after our first embrace

Oh..I could never tear apart such a tenderly romantic, feel-good embrace of a poem. Those final three lines are like a warm kiss suspended in time. Absolutely lovely poetry here...one i know i will be savoring for many days to come. :)
