Good Time Girl

Good Time Girl

A Poem by Neville

Good Time Girl

Just flicking through old brown photographs

Killing time growing old pretending not to care

Collecting dust and dandruff from her

Precious locks of hair

The walls of her apartment are littered

With the centerfolds of women’s magazines

She claims not be to a martyr

But admits to being many other things

Today she spends her time remembering

The many times she gave relief and once got

Fifteen quid plus syphilis from a politician

On the other side of town

This portrait is painted with some harsh colors, which conveys a sad bucket of nostalgia. You use such vivid imagery from an intense slice of life, such as line 2 & the syphilis comment. I have never heard of women's magazines with centerfolds, tho!??! I'm glad my regrets don't sting this much! *sigh!* Fondly, Margie

Sad thing, I know a few ladies like this

WOW, the memories of a lady of the evening...or a centerfold. You can write from anyone's perspective. The imagery is stunning. Lydi**

Hey BBP, many sincere thank you's are heading your way. All Good Things, Neville
Again I like the short snappy style. Nice observation and insight. I find the fifteen quid line jars somehow, phonetically I think, but I have this feeling that you did this deliberately to make that line stand out.

Nice work!

It was my pleasure.
Just one more reason not to trust a politician. Now you've got me wanting to pull that old cardboard box down from the closet.
