A nice, cool spot on a balcony, chilling with some cooled red wine, the vista seems great and the reflections greater. I love to reflect upon the fervent past, in my moments of leisure, even more so with a chilled goblet at hand. How far we have travelled, it feels...I enjoyed the moments you captured here.
Occasionally, if lucky, one finds a near hidden place looking out, looking down into space, thought nudges fond memories and magical spells that somehow last forever. From a special time, even a single moment, they take root in an odd way. Perhaps? There's a contented smile in your words, Neville, a little wistful maybe and brief as ever but, loaded with meaning.

an old mentor once taught me to find beauty wherever I could and then to share it with those who have lives filled with suffering and a fear of living to the very fullest .. I guess that is what one tries to do with poetry ...
the genuine smile I presently wear must surely be a token of my appreciation of your visit emmajoy.

Would agree about self.awareness, it can be manipulated, surely, Perhaps to see beauty peeps need stop looking at the dust on their shoes and notice many aren't wearing any.. Listening to people as one does really does mean Listening, don't you think Add to that process, whilst reacting gently, one learns, hopefully, to learn more about one's own lack of or hold on understanding how life is and what it means for other people.
See what happens when a writer leaves substantial comments.. I blather. Forgive.
looking back now and knowing better...I don't think anyone can mean more than poetry...
they can get close, though.
I really like the balcony one..shivered a bit, afraid, deathly, of heights.
I like the idea of kites waiting for their breakfast...i hope they don't eat cardinals.
very interesting, thoughtful and amusing parts of a whole here, Neville.

Balconies are great places to observe, reflect, dine and do anything else that takes your fancy. I write poetry on balconies these days.Your words here do sound like an echo from the past, yet also a reminder of the present. Romantic and beautiful are your thoughts. The Greek mainland, the kites and the cardinals make up a wonderful canvas, the colours a blend of many types of heat ranging from warm through to sizzling. Anyone who is loved more than poetry to a poet, is up there with the Gods.
