A Permanent Embrace

A Permanent Embrace

A Poem by Neville

A Permanent Embrace

Somewhere, in some deep forest glade

where dappled pools of light did shade

He found her waiting patiently, but oh’

so very naked …………………………

And though quite shocked, to find her

thus ..

He knelt to kiss where those blue veins

did form

a perfect cross, in the hollow of her

ankle …………………………………

Yes … twas there with gold leaves falling

all around ..

Like snow in sudden winter forming

each a pillow, sheet, a quilt and shroud

That’s precisely

where they lay till morning, undiscovered

still and proud ……………………….

Until the thaw of spring that is .. and they

were then each

Subsequently found, beneath a swollen

hedgerow somewhere

Locked in their permanent embrace …

I will never forget once I came upon two trees that had grown side by side their trunks were separated but about five feet up they started growing together if stood far enough back you could see the differences between the two but from looking directly below them, they appeared as one tree:) I took a photograph of them but I fear I may have lost it over time, but the memory is still burned in my head. Your poem so reminded me of this encounter thank you

Oh gosh... so very sad... but also how very wonderful to be in death embracing your love.
Such a wonderful poem... reminds me in thoughts of death and love, of my poem Forevermore.
I think you already may have read it.
Loved all the words you used,
Lisa, getting ready to help Bob clean the grout in our pool...yikes!!

An imaginative and very artistic poetic piece, Neville! The imagery is very well-worked, and the romantic mood - although tinged with sadness - is there for all to appreciate. A fine write, my friend!

My pleasure. Enjoy your Sunday dinner!
Embraced in death. Tragic and romantic at the same time. We both write about this Neville. We can only surmise what led up to this situation. I see a painting here. There is much beauty in this piece. It is memorable and incredibly visual.

As a visual artist as well, I really love the imagery that can be created from this beautiful poem.

One of my favorite illustrators and artist is a gentleman by the name of Barry Windsor Smith. His art is simply amazing. Your beautifully descriptive poem is something I can so see him drawing. Wonderful work my friend.
