Lonely Winter Blues

Lonely Winter Blues

A Poem by Polaroid Impossible
"

We had one of our worst winters last year here in Australia. So where did I decide to move?.. That's right- England, for a second winter. I recently returned to Australia for a third winter in a row..

"

Cold stabbing at the skin
The frost won't stop bickering

Rain, hail, snow - my old friends
Hearing spring as it contends

Blinding white staining the earth
Flakes falling, giving birth

Winter breaths every affliction
Its fatal demise, a sick addiction

Resurrect a dying season
For it holds no reason

Whispering wise words
Of winter's cold curse

This poem is very reflective of the circle of life. Winter is generally associated with the lack of life but then you use "giving birth" and "breaths" and "resurrect" contrasted with "fatal demise, a sick addiction" "dying season" There is def something here, melting off the tongue of the lines. Well done.

really nice and sad that it makes poeple hold on to the sadness of winter and rain. good job.

Slivers of rhyming wisedom, I must admit. Each fragement displays a scene of winter; some very sweet, others grim.

Contrasts are often overlooked. Thanks for noticing :)

My pleasure. *Smile*
the metaphors and how you describe Winter are haunting and dream-like. In a way you've taken a mundane thing (how a person complains about the cold or harsh season) and twisted it into a beautiful work of art in poetry-- I can definitely relate to how you feel since I've experienced cold seasons (though I'm sure no where near as harsh since I live in a southern state in the US), but then there's the sense of what you're trying to convey is surreal. I like it :]

I am glad you found similarities and can relate to this season. Thank you :)
Every season has it's beauty, also the dark winter coming soon at your country... We finally have the summer, as we live the opposite, I loved this write. It has level. And when it's christmas you have your summer... and we freeze... Lovely deep thoughts.
