This is Where There's Light

This is Where There's Light

A Poem by Nicole Laszlo

As a kid, I always wondered-

Why all the bugs

Flew towards a light that killed them-

It killed them every time

It's not like it killed them once in a while

It never failed!

Every bug that hit it

Died

So why?

Big and small

They all flew towards it

Some were hesitant

Others- didn't think twice

But all the same

They all went out

With a bright blue spark

I use to smile at that

It was a pretty sight

But still I couldn't grasp

As to why they kept doing it

Over and over

-And over

But now I think I realize

Maybe they were just tired-

Of living in the dark

I love the formatting and the imagery in this poem. My favorite line is the last one:
"Maybe they were just tired-
of living in the dark."
I think that this really ties the entire poem together.
Great job! Keep writing.
