Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes

A Poem by Nicole Renee

Curiosity has killed the cat again,
And Sherlock Holmes is ahead of the game,
Observing the littlest details of every human fiber,
Being, and all that's in the world.
He's like a needle in a haystack,
Being an unusually brilliant man that's
Fickle about boring cases and is
Too smart for the world he's in,
Calculating, speculating, and experimenting
As Sherlock goes and works with the case in hand.
Some may think he's hard to get along with
Because of his uncanny skills of knowing a person
With just a swift glance, only two people really knowing
What's going through the gears in his mind.

The first person is Dr.John Watson,
His best friend and right hand man,
Who tags along with him in his crazy investigations
And only know what his unexpected plans are half the time.
The second person is the only woman
Who's ever outsmarted him twice,
Making a "proper idiot" out of Sherlock,according to Watson;
The woman who's name is Irene Alder,
Who he loves and cares for, even if he doesn't like to show it.

But to the main subject!
If the world at first seems to know
This brilliant detective of the 1800's,
You better think about it again!
Sherlock always seems to surprise everybody
With a trick of a two up his sleeve,
Thinking about every inch of it even before
We knew about what he was going to do.

"Madame, I need you to remain calm and trust me,
I'm a professional. Beneath this pillow lies the key to my release."

I got a little stuck with this poem,so bear with me. :]
And I'm referring to the 2009 Sherlock Holmes. Yet the part where it
saids,"The woman" is from the Sherlock Holmes books. Oh! The quote's from the movie! :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Holmes <--"The woman" part of what my poem's saying.

"He's like a needle in a haystack," ----> Love that line. That's Sherlock Holmes exactly in a nutshell. Never happier and never happy than when he's immersed in details. I like this one. Get the feeling it's based on your viewing of the film, however - and I wouldn't recommend that as a testimony to the literary fictional detective.
Mind you, based on what this poem has to say about him, the film at least gets something right!

On a technical note, I think this line sits very uncomfortably: "And only know what his unexpected plans are half the time."

PS. According to the books, Irene Adler only outwitted Holmes once - and then only after he had already outwitted her!
