Calling Princess Sarah...

Calling Princess Sarah...

A Story by Nicky Sarti
"

Another quick little short story. A princess gets a mysterious phone call.

"

"Your Royal Highness?" The unfamiliar voice on the end of the line asked, waiting politely for the reply from Princess Sarah.

"Yes?" Came the reply, Sarah unsure just who was on the end of the phone.

"You are in grave danger, do not go to the party tonight..." His tone was hurried and quiet, although his words seemingly came out of the blue; they sounded as though there was more than a little truth to them.

"I beg your pardon?" Sarah questioned, shocked and taken aback by the strangers’ words. But there was silence on the other end of the line, nothing but a shrill tone; alerting her to the fact the stranger had ended the call.

"Is everything okay Sarah?" Her husband's voice bringing the Princess from her thoughts, for a moment she was about to tell him all but something in her stopped her from doing so.

"Of course dear..." Was all she could reply, she had no idea why; but it felt like the right thing to do. As the others in the room went about their business, Sarah was left to her own devices; making her polite excuses she left the room and headed for her private quarters.

There was something about the phone call that peaked her interest, something about the strangers’ voice that made Sarah think about his short sentence and his meaning behind it. Was it meant to cause her fear and doubt, or was it done to aid her; and just how on earth had he gotten through to her... it was after all no easy task for anyone to speak to her these days.

And maybe that, along with other incidents had caused Sarah to question everything. It had not been that long since Diane's untimely death, the press and public had been filled with millions of unanswered questions; it all seemed too "incky" as her American friends would say. Something was wrong, Sarah was sure of that much; as to what it may be was anyone's guess... It was now seemingly up to Sarah to find out just exactly what was wrong, and she only had a little under six hours to find the answers she needed. That was of course if she chose to attend tonight's party, she would have to make that decision later on; but right now she had some mysteries to figure out.
