Unicorn Islands

Unicorn Islands

A Poem by Nimfle

To the girl in the mirror,
You smiled with me
When I should have cried.

I left my purity in your hands
When I last recognise.

As I stare at the new stranger
in the mirror.
I laugh manically
But she has tears in her eyes.

What an ugly child you are!
You look as confused as I feel.
Tell me..

Have you heard of a place where horses have antlers?
Where lost children are fortune tellers?
Where the sun and the moon each take a side?
And thoroughbreds thrive?

Its where the old comes to find
And the young to search.

Where no one ever dies
Nothing ever cries.

Have you heard of it?

..Its not neverland...
Nevermind...

Its where I tended to go,
But my feet spread roots
Deep into the unloving world
Until I had no choice but to become one with the earth.

Now I tell stories to the strangers in the mirror
passing by,
About an island where the little girl in the mirror must be now.
Oh! I hope she has for both our sakes.
