The Scytheswinger's Song

The Scytheswinger's Song

A Poem by Noel Isaac
"

...

"
"What song would you like to hear?
The jolly one or the lyrics filled with tears?
It is not I who rolls the dice,
I'm just here heralding your demise.
The last breath coming from your soul's depth,
Is like a hallowed music from the sept,
Tracing the curve, touching the nerve,
A mercy to the life you were served.
Whoosh!--says your vanquished fire,
Speak of your farewell to the untamed desires,
Speak it now, for my service is here at last,
Feel the ice of my fingers creeping upon you fast.
Whoosh!--sighs your soul swung by the scythe,
Even the mightiest trembles at my might,
From now on, you shall be with the nameless others,
Wading through these gray mists and waters."
