![]() The Two MenA Poem by Noel Isaac![]() ...![]()
Before me is a mirror,
behind me is the past. I drink the wine, so does the man before me. He stares at me. His eyes are wet and red. The face is that of the dead. But resolute. Like a flute, his life had sung melody. But the flute had become broken. So now he lives in malady, an unfortunate token. He loved a girl before, loved her so much he left everything behind. He gave everything he could, fortune and flame. But the girl was gone before dawn, leaving behind the love of yesterday. So he was left in despair, mourning that morning. Like a relentless hunter, he sought for her. But soon came home wanting to be dead: he found her within an embrace of another man. Now he seeks for me, looking for help. "What will I do to end this pain?" he cries I drink another wine. I pull a gun out of my coat, while pouring me the last glass, "Tis the cure I've thought," I raise the gun and shoot him dead.
