Flight or Fight

Flight or Fight

A Poem by NoireWriter

I had a dream this past night,
Of us, of what we are, of what we may become.
It was a dreadful sight,
I've been drowning myself in spiced rum.

Our love is what it showed,
Promise or brokenness?
It portrayed both.
There was no innocence.

No way to get back to where we used to be,
Painful cries were proof it was never as we thought.
An ocean of tears, and we were lost at sea.
The battle has been lost, there's nothing left for what we fought.

I then awake in a start,
After seeing all the pain,
Are we to spend eternity apart?
I no longer know which notion is sane.

We have but one question,
Which determines all.
We have but one last question,
But it lays at my feet, and yet your call.

Will we leave the past,
And follow the light,
Or our love to the sea we'll cast,
Our love, can we truly fight?
